In my opinion, Hollow Knight's combat is less unique, and Cuphead's combat is very fun, but Hollow Knight still holds my favorite between the two due to the really fast paced dodging, parrying, and dealing massive damage in an instant. Cuphead also represents this, but I feel Hollow Knight does a better job. However, Cuphead does a better job at the long range aspect. In Hollow Knight, the long range fighting isn't too defined, but the melee aspect makes up for it. Sadly, there's no melee in Cuphead (to my knowledge), so it's not very easy to compare that. I enjoy melee combat, but ranged combat is extremely fun. To finish this way too long (and probably controversial) statement, the music for Cuphead doesn't fit too well. For example: that airplane lady, when she turns into the crescent moon, the music doesn't feel too fitting. I've never gotten the music mixed up (that I know of) but it doesn't feel right for the moment at hand . For Hollow Knight, the feeling of tragedy is extremely evident. Example: The Hollow Knight boss fight. In the final phase of the fight, the music gets slower, and The Hollow Knight gets slower and visibly weaker. (Sorry if it was too long, I had a lot to say.)
